The Department of Modern and Classical Languages provides a Master of Arts in World Cultures and Literatures, along with Bachelor of Arts programs in Chinese Studies, French, Italian Studies, and World Cultures and Literature. These include specializations in Ancient Studies, German Studies, Francophone Cultures Studies, Global Cinema Studies, Global Modernity Studies, and Middle Eastern Studies. Additionally, the department offers a minor in Jewish Studies, a minor in India Studies, and language instruction or minor programs in 13 different languages. The World Cultures and Literatures B.A. is an interdisciplinary program where students develop foreign language proficiency and intercultural communication abilities through advanced language courses and global literary and cultural studies.
