The University of Hawaii's Clinical Studies Program is a scientific training initiative focused on developing culturally aware clinical professionals. This program prepares graduates to excel in healthcare psychology within public service settings including medical facilities, counseling centers, academic institutions, and other organizations. The doctoral curriculum in clinical psychology at UH Mnoa follows three core principles: (1) Applying psychological research from foundational disciplines (like social, cognitive, developmental psychology, psychobiology, and learning theories) to clinical work, (2) Ensuring sensitivity to individual variations in all psychological practice, research, and education, and (3) Maintaining evidence-based approaches with continuous client evaluation throughout therapeutic processes, upholding standards of professional responsibility and academic rigor.
