Our faculty are dedicated to outstanding research, community engagement, and exceptional instruction, featuring honored educators and winners of notable state, national, and international awards. Graduate students have earned prestigious fellowships, including those from the Ford Foundation and Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans.
Throughout the year, the department hosts visiting writers and scholars for readings and lectures. Students can engage in various activities such as contributing to journals and conferences, tutoring undergraduates, mentoring, teaching courses, and participating in community internships.
The program allows students to focus on one of four specialized concentrations while exploring additional areas, offering a comprehensive understanding of English studies and each student's chosen focus. Completing the M.A. in English requires 33 credit hours, with specific requirements tailored to each concentration.
