Chemical signatures serve as effective indicators and archives of both natural and anthropogenic alterations in the ocean. Within the Marine Geology and Geochemistry Division (MGGD), our research focuses on identifying and measuring chemical processes within the land-ocean-atmosphere system. Through laboratory experiments, field studies, and computational models, we examine climate shifts, ocean acidification, and the boundaries of marine ecosystems. Our shared objective is to comprehend historical and projected variations in carbon, oxygen, and nutrient cycles, while forecasting their impacts on Earth's interconnected biogeochemical framework.
