When students enroll in equivalent courses with varying emphases (such as CHN 101 and 111), both grades appear on the transcript, but only one set of credits can be applied toward degree completion. This credit adjustment might impact financial aid or Veterans Affairs benefits for eligible students.
Instructors may waive prerequisites for certain Chinese courses for students with prior language experience who have taken a placement exam. Chinese majors must meet with their faculty advisor or the Undergraduate Advisor (Moore 390) before registering each semester. Students considering our graduate program should also consult their advisor about their plans.
The Chinese certificate program allows students to enhance other academic disciplines with foundational Chinese language and cultural studies. Participants must complete five approved courses totaling 15 credit hours.
