Animal Sciences (ANSC) involves using scientific research, advanced technologies, and core scientific concepts to enhance sustainable animal farming practices while ensuring better food quality and safety. The curriculum provides education in fundamental and practical agricultural methods, along with specialized animal science training. This program primarily prepares students for veterinary studies, concentrating on swine, sheep, beef and dairy cattle, as well as pond aquaculture operations. Learners also explore responsible care, welfare, and management of pets, companion animals (such as horses), marine mammals, exotic wildlife, and zoo animals. Unlike many mainland U.S. programs, this curriculum prioritizes tropical production systems, especially those relevant to the Pacific Basin and similar subtropical areas.
