The joint initiative between the Department of Agricultural Economics and the Bush School of Government and Public Service permits undergraduate Agricultural Economics majors to enroll in the Master of Public Service and Administration Program during their senior year (usually the fourth year) at Texas A&M University. This pathway lets students earn both a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics (BS AGEC) and a Master of Public Service and Administration (MPSA) with a specialization in public policy analysis (PPA) within five years.
Agricultural Economics students aiming for the accelerated five-year dual degree must maintain at least a 3.25 GPA and finish 103 of the 120 credit hours needed for their bachelor's degree. These completed courses must cover all core requirements for the BS in Agricultural Economics, along with the mandatory coursework set by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Texas A&M University's undergraduate degree standards.
Participants in this 32-credit combined program will provide the same application materials as standard MPSA candidates, with one difference: they must submit a 2-page application available on the Bush School website instead of using the Texas A&M UniCAS portal, eliminating the application fee. Competitive applicants meeting the mid-January deadline will receive an invitation to the GBS Interview Conference Weekend in late February or early March. Admission standards for the five-year program mirror those for traditional MPSA students.
