The Bachelor of Education in Special Education is a statewide initiative designed to qualify graduates for special education teaching positions in Hawaii's public school system. Students residing on any Hawaiian island can pursue this program remotely during their final two undergraduate years. Participants select from two concentration areas:
Secondary Special Education, Mild/Moderate (6-12) prepares educators for middle and high school special education roles.
Severe Disabilities and Autism (PK-12) focuses on teaching students with significant needs across all grade levels, including preschool, self-contained classrooms, and community-based learning environments.
