The Economics Honors Track aims to support our majors by enabling and promoting their involvement in the University's Honors Program. This specialized track offers highly driven economics students the opportunity to pursue advanced studies and research while working closely with a departmental faculty advisor. Students gain admission to the research-focused Economics Honors Track after enrolling in the University's Honors Program. Earning an Honors Degree in Economics proves exceptionally valuable, providing an enriched undergraduate experience regardless of career aspirations. Participation in this track significantly enhances students' prospects for admission to prestigious graduate programs with financial support. Economics Honors Track participants must fulfill all standard Economics major requirements alongside Honors Program obligations. Certain economics courses may replace required Honors courses (as specified below), allowing students to graduate without substantially increasing their academic workload.
Four-year Honors pathway (starting as freshmen): requires completion of 2 HON courses plus at least one A-section course (e.g., ENG 100A)
Upper Division Honors pathway (beginning junior year): requires either an HON 291 to HON 491 sequence or, with approval, an economics graduate-level course
