The Interdisciplinary Studies Program aims to support students in crafting well-structured, challenging academic paths that tackle comprehensive and intricate topics by combining diverse intellectual approaches. It also assists faculty in fostering cross-disciplinary partnerships, testing innovative interdisciplinary curricula, and enhancing educational creativity and connections throughout the university. Through its initiatives, programming, and courses, the program strives to strengthen interdisciplinary understanding, scholarship, and application. The Interdisciplinary Studies (IS) Program enables students to engage in a unified educational journey that transcends traditional departmental or unit constraints. The IS BA degree offers students the chance to explore various thematic concentrations in emerging or underrepresented academic areas. Those pursuing this degree can choose between pre-established or customized academic tracks. Pre-Designed IS Degree pathways feature adaptable and varied curricula developed by multidisciplinary faculty specialists. Self-Designed IS Degree pathways involve study plans conceptualized by students with faculty guidance. Operating independently of any single college or department, the IS program plays a vital mediating role in advancing interdisciplinary cooperation across campus. It promotes unit collaboration by coordinating inter-college and inter-departmental discussions, acting as an impartial facilitator in program discussions, maintaining thorough oversight, and compiling proposal documentation.
A chance to explore pioneering academic fields beyond traditional institutional limits.
