At The Hartt School, tuba students benefit from thorough musical education. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, focusing on exceptional performance skills and academic understanding. Every curriculum prepares graduates for top-tier careers in performance, instruction, or composition. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study beyond a master's degree. Students must complete their first year as full-time residents, taking at least 9 credits each semester. A summer term before residency is allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.
