At The Hartt School, tuba students benefit from well-rounded musical education. The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates accomplished musicians by focusing on exceptional artistry and academic understanding. Every curriculum is structured to equip graduates for professional careers in top-tier performance, instruction, or creative work. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study beyond a master's degree. Students must maintain full-time enrollment during their first year, completing no fewer than 9 credits each semester. A summer term before the residency year is allowed. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of initial enrollment.
