Hartt's music production and technology program prepares musicians for careers as audio professionals (including recording, mixing, and mastering engineers). Strong musical training has been fundamental for nearly all accomplished producers. By studying music, electronics, and acoustics, students gain the expertise needed for careers in professional audio. This Bachelor of Music program in music production and technology requires both an interview and an audition on an instrument or voice. The audition confirms applicants meet the performance standards needed for Hartt's MPT ensemble requirements. Auditions may be in classical, jazz, or commercial music styles, each with distinct evaluation criteria.
