The Bachelor of Music (BMus) in Instrumental Performance at The Hartt School offers an intensive curriculum tailored for highly skilled and driven students pursuing professional performance careers. The program features specialized courses like Audience Communication, Music Career Development, and Orchestral Literature, equipping students with essential professional skills such as contract discussions, recording production, stage presence, audition preparation, and musical selection. Hartt's flute program provides an immersive experience that pushes performers to grow artistically. To enhance teaching abilities, the flute studio implements a mentorship model connecting undergraduate students with graduate flutists. These pairs collaborate for at least two weekly sessions, practicing duets, addressing technical challenges, conducting research, and exchanging constructive feedback. This approach allows graduate students to hone their instructional methods before graduation, while undergraduates gain valuable supplemental guidance between lessons and faster integration into the flute community.
