For those aspiring to teach English at the secondary level, UHart provides a Bachelor of Arts in English combined with Secondary Education Certification. You'll study within both the English and Modern Languages Department (College of Arts and Sciences) and the Education Department (College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions). This comprehensive program qualifies graduates for initial teaching certification with an English endorsement for grades 7-12. The curriculum includes a full semester of hands-on teaching experience in public school environments, mentored by clinical professors and experienced cooperating teachers. Blending literature studies with pedagogical training, the program features instruction from accomplished authors and poets alongside essential education coursework. The education component balances theoretical foundations meeting state standards with practical teaching applications, while ensuring deep content knowledge in your future teaching subject area.
You can apply if you are currently enrolled in high school or secondary school, or if you have completed high school or secondary school, but have not started a degree.
You will be required to present the following results: 2.75 (out of 4.0); 3.75 (out of 5.0); 80% (out of 100); 70% (out of 100) India/Canada.
