Our approach to percussion education embraces complete inclusivity. Hartt students explore solo performances, chamber music, orchestral works, improvisation, drum-set techniques, and global percussion traditions—especially from Africa, the Middle East, Cuba, Brazil, and Trinidad. We regularly bring in specialized guest instructors to enhance our conventional curriculum. Consequently, Hartt percussion graduates have excelled in securing diverse employment nationwide. The Artist Diploma (AD) program supports rising soloists with advanced instrumental training to advance their performing arts careers. Focused on concert, chamber, and orchestral performance, this intensive program minimizes academic demands, enabling students to dedicate themselves entirely to mastering their craft.
