The Master of Avian Medicine program equips veterinarians with advanced expertise in identifying, managing, and controlling diseases affecting poultry. This specialized degree is available to graduates holding a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine qualification.
PDRC provides an 18-month non-thesis Master of Avian Medicine (MAM) program tailored for veterinary professionals pursuing careers in clinical poultry practice. The curriculum integrates microbiology, pathology, and poultry science studies with hands-on field and laboratory training in avian healthcare. Completion requires 41 semester credit hours and passing a comprehensive oral examination. Those interested in poultry medicine can alternatively pursue a traditional MS through the Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences program. For doctoral studies, candidates may participate in collaborative graduate initiatives with the Departments of Infectious Diseases and Veterinary Pathology. PDRC faculty hold graduate appointments in these departments and can supervise students in both MS and PhD programs.
