This joint program, managed by the College of Engineering and the Department of Marine Sciences, aims to develop both theoretical and hands-on expertise in marine and engineering systems. Graduates earning the certificate will have shown:
Specialized understanding in chosen engineering and marine science fields,
Skills to combine engineering and marine science knowledge,
Capability to perform innovative research in marine settings.
The interdisciplinary curriculum provides three main concentration paths, designed to complement graduate research projects. The Fluid Dynamics & Hydrology track covers measurement and computational modeling of coastal processes, Instrumentation centers on developing and deploying marine sensors, while Ecological and Energy Engineering includes subjects from ocean energy generation to biological and non-biological energy flows.
