This research-focused program fosters collaboration between academic study and the practical application of dramatic arts. Our alumni hold teaching positions at institutions throughout the U.S. and internationally.

Prospective PhD candidates should possess:

strong research, analytical, and writing skills,
substantial creative experience,
either an MA or MFA degree.
Exceptional BA graduates may qualify for our accelerated MFA/PhD track. The dual-degree program typically takes five years to finish, compared to four years for the standalone PhD.
