The University of Georgia's Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Graduate Program equips doctoral candidates with innovative, cross-disciplinary methods to investigate brain function and behavior, readying them to tackle significant neurological and neurodegenerative challenges of our time.
Established in 2006 after receiving approval from the University System of Georgia Board of Regents in 2005, UGA's Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Ph.D. Program operates under the Biomedical and Health Sciences Institute (BHSI), which provides administrative support. The BHSI aims to foster collaborative research and education across UGA's biomedical and health science disciplines, organized into three key areas: Neuroscience, One Health, and Basic and Translational Biomedical Sciences. With participation from over 30 faculty members across 14 departments, the Neuroscience Ph.D. Program grants doctoral degrees while offering students comprehensive academic training, technical skills, clinical experience, and research expertise for advancing in neuroscience careers. This program's research focuses on uncovering fundamental nervous system knowledge essential for developing therapies for neurological and behavioral conditions.
