Health promotion is a social science focused on behavior that utilizes insights from biology, environment, psychology, physical sciences, and medicine to improve health behaviors among individuals and communities. It addresses living and working conditions affecting health while preventing illness, disabilities, and early mortality through voluntary, education-based behavioral changes. The Health Promotion program at UGA covers subjects like public health, anatomy and physiology, biostatistics, policy, environmental health, and more. Requirements include first aid and CPR certification, plus practical experience through internships. Students develop abilities to evaluate and respond to individual and community health needs, facilitate community initiatives, form partnerships, and oversee health education programs.
