A key objective for many students is advancing their careers as professional visual artists. Building connections with academic and commercial galleries is actively promoted throughout the program. Graduates from the Drawing and Painting program often secure positions in art-related fields including publishing, arts management, gallery work, and instruction. Those pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) can also obtain art education certification, qualifying them to teach studio art from elementary to high school. College-level studio art instruction requires a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. The program emphasizes cultivating individual artistic expression within each student's chosen studio focus. BFA candidates are expected to gain deep comprehension of their materials and creative processes. Most studio programs mandate a culminating exhibition prior to graduation, showcasing the student's ability to produce a sophisticated, unified collection of artwork.
