Qualification Requirements

Applicants must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution. Applicants often major in communication design or a closely related area (ex: architecture, industrial or interior design), although we recognize there are many ways to learn design and welcome applicants with degrees in other majors.

All applicants must demonstrate a level of achievement acceptable for master's level study in this discipline. Materials submitted should demonstrate an understanding of an iterative design process, one's ability to think critically and conceptually in a design context (i.e., design & visual communication thinking, skills, and abilities), and the ability to work collaboratively.
Written statement of purpose This statement should include your aspirations and how your experiences have prepared you for graduate study (background, interests). In addition, please tell us why this program is of interest to you, and your goals after graduation. Please feel free to share anything else you believe is important.
Letters of recommendation THREE (3) required letters of recommendation from faculty or professionals who can speak to your ability to be successful in a graduate program. This is completed electronically within the application. You will need your recommenders' email addresses and plan enough time for them to receive and respond to the University request. More information and directions are provided as you complete the online application.
R'sum or curriculum vitae - Pursuant to Florida Statute, your application requires inclusion of all post-high school education and employment, as well as information about ongoing international affiliations and research funding. Please ensure this information is included on your curriculum vitae (CV) or r'sum.

A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required. For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
