The Philosophy Department provides graduate programs culminating in Master of Arts (M.A.) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degrees. The M.A. program necessitates completing 36 credit hours, achievable within two years through 9-credit course loads during fall and spring terms. Students must fulfill distribution requirements through core classes and 6000-level seminars, with 6 credit hours allocated to electives. The program concludes with a faculty-administered oral Final Examination, with committee members chosen by the Graduate Studies Committee.
Admission to either program requires either a bachelor’s degree in philosophy or sufficient course work in philosophy as determined by the department.
