The Latin American Politics concentration within the Master of Arts in Latin American Studies (MALAS) program delivers a multidisciplinary, cross-regional examination of Latin America's historical development, governance structures, policy frameworks, and social dynamics including race and gender relations. Leveraging faculty expertise across Anthropology, History, Political Science, and Sociology, this track equips students with comprehensive academic training for careers in research, diplomacy, and global institutions.
The Center for Latin American Studies provides these graduate options: An interdisciplinary MA in Latin American Studies, A graduate certificate in Latin American studies, plus specialized certificates in Tropical Conservation and Development. The program draws from more than 250 Latin America-focused courses spanning 35+ academic departments.
MALAS maintains its academic distinction through vibrant exchanges among faculty and students from varied backgrounds. Learners work with 180 affiliated scholars across humanities, sciences, and professional fields to craft personalized curricula.
