The Doctor of Plant Medicine (DPM) program offers an advanced doctoral-level education focused on plant health diagnosis and management. Students in this program undertake demanding coursework and hands-on internships. Those concurrently enrolled in a departmental M.S. program are required to complete a thesis. DPM candidates frequently engage in practical laboratory research and may contribute to publishing peer-reviewed scientific and extension articles.
Graduates of the DPM program can explore diverse career paths including roles as plant diagnosticians, agricultural consultants, regulatory experts, extension agents, research specialists, or entrepreneurs in plant health fields. The program's comprehensive training opens numerous professional avenues. Students design their academic path in consultation with a supervisory committee, which includes faculty experts in Plant Science, Soil Science, Weed Science, Plant Pathology, Entomology, and Nematology, subject to approval by the DPM Director.
