The Veterinary Medical Sciences PhD program prepares graduates to enter research careers across academia, government agencies, and private industries, both domestically and internationally. Our doctoral candidates represent diverse backgrounds, hailing from the United States, Latin America, the Caribbean, Asia, and Africa.
This rigorous PhD curriculum mandates completion of at least 90 credit hours, combining advanced coursework with original research. Through partnerships with other colleges within the Health Science Center and the Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine offers students exceptional interdisciplinary research experiences and faculty guidance.

Qualification Requirements
A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.
All of the following requirements must be met in order to qualify for admission into the
PhD program in the CVM:
Availability of space, resources and faculty expertise
An earned Bachelor's degree or equivalent
An upper division undergraduate GPA of 3.2 or the equivalent
Three appropriate letters of recommendation
For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
