The Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a mandatory component of the Ph.D. program designed to support doctoral candidates throughout their academic journey. This structured framework facilitates essential guidance for completing doctoral requirements, including collaboration with graduate committees. Ph.D. students can access the IDP through their Canvas portal. Specific tasks outlined on the Canvas syllabus page must be fulfilled, including:
Review your self-evaluation and current objectives with your academic advisor. Collaboratively create a 12-month action strategy using the provided template, focusing on target competencies and skill development. This living document should evolve as you advance through your graduate studies.
Additionally, consult with your advisor to establish a mentoring roadmap using the designated template. This plan should outline preparation strategies for meetings with key academic contacts including your Lead Mentor, Thesis Committee members, and research collaborators. Submit your finalized mentoring plan via the designated assignment portal.
