The Individual Development Plan (IDP) is a mandatory component of the Ph.D. program designed to support doctoral candidates throughout their academic journey. This structured framework facilitates essential guidance for completing doctoral requirements, including collaboration with graduate committees. Ph.D. students can access the IDP through their Canvas portal. Specific tasks outlined on the Canvas syllabus page must be fulfilled, including:
Review your self-evaluation and current objectives with your academic advisor. Collaboratively create a 12-month action strategy using the provided template, focusing on target competencies and skill development. This living document should evolve as you advance through your graduate studies.
Additionally, consult with your advisor to establish a mentoring roadmap using the designated template. This plan should outline preparation strategies for meetings with key academic contacts including your Lead Mentor, Thesis Committee members, and research collaborators. Submit your finalized mentoring plan via the designated assignment portal.

Qualification Requirements

A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.

Strong background in engineering or science with at least a B average (GPA=3.0/4.0) for all upper-division undergraduate coursework. For reference, the first quartile and median undergraduate GPA of students entering the Ph.D. program over the past several years has been 3.74 and 3.5, respectively, on a 4.0 scale.

For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
