Human-Centered Computing (HCC) integrates knowledge from diverse fields including digital media, engineering psychology, assistive technologies, architecture, industrial and systems engineering, industrial design, music, and public policy. HCC studies focus on aligning technology with human needs by examining how computing impacts quality of life, social connections, and cultural development, while simultaneously advancing innovative technologies and investigating fundamental questions across science, engineering, arts, and design.
To obtain a Ph.D., candidates must complete a minimum of 90 graduate credits beyond their bachelor's degree. A maximum of 30 credits from a previous master's program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, whether earned at the University of Florida or another accredited institution, can be applied toward the Ph.D. requirements. Transfer credit applications must be submitted during the student's initial enrollment term, with final approval resting with the graduate school. After these initial 30 credits, a minimum of 30 additional credits must be completed through University of Florida coursework.
