Qualification Requirements
Ph.D. applicants eligible for admission into the Department of Applied Physiology & Kinesiology (APK) Graduate Program must:
complete the UF Graduate Admissions online application.
submit official transcripts from ALL institutions in which post-secondary (college or university) coursework was attempted.
Official Transcripts should be submitted to the UF Office of Admissions.
Unofficial transcripts are also requested by the department for Ph.D. applicants.
have earned a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university at the time of matriculation into the APK graduate program.
hold a minimum 3.0 GPA in their final 60 semester hours of undergraduate study.
No GRE score is required for Doctoral-level applicants.
Since GRE scores are not considered for Doctoral applicants, please ensure you provide evidence of writing and mathematics abilities. This could be covered by your transcripts, letter of intent, and/or letters of recommendation
obtain three letters of recommendation submitted from persons able to evaluate their aptitude for graduate work.
The Department of APK prefers at least one faculty member, from your most recent post-secondary institution, submit a letter of recommendation.
Have your letter writers e-mail copies of your recommendation letters and evaluation forms as attachments directly to the APK Department Graduate Coordinator
submit a personal letter of intent detailing the applicant's aspirations related to graduate work and research interests in APK.
Ph.D. applicants should review the research interests of individual faculty members and directly contact faculty whose lab(s) you are interested in working.
The individual faculty MUST accept Ph.D. applicants. into their laboratory prior to admission into the Ph.D. program.
The letter of intent should be uploaded into your UF Application for Graduate Admission, and you can copy it into the APK graduate profile sheet (Youll only need to write one letter of intent).
For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 79, PBT- 550.
