The Department of Geological Sciences brings together a team of globally renowned faculty, graduate researchers, and committed support personnel. Scholars within the department engage in innovative, pioneering research initiatives across Florida and worldwide. Our facilities boast cutting-edge analytical and computational resources for both academic study and scientific investigation. The department focuses on six key research and educational specialties: environmental geology and water systems, ancient climate studies, tectonic processes, geochemical analysis and mineral/petrology research, marine and coastal geological systems, and paleomagnetic studies. We maintain strong interdisciplinary partnerships with the Florida Museum of Natural History, Center for Wetlands Research, Land Use and Environmental Change Institute (L.U.E.C.I.), Florida Climate Institute, and University of Florida Water Institute for joint academic programs and research endeavors.

Qualification Requirements

A recognized baccalaureate, graduate or professional degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution or a comparable degree from an international institution.
Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.

For applicants from countries where English is not the ofcial language, a minimum score on one of these English Language Skills tests, IELTS - 6.0,TOEFL IBT- 80, PBT- 550.
