Modeling, Measurement, Visualization and Computation: methods for gathering, processing, interpreting, and presenting geographic data through technologies like GeoAI, GIS, Remote Sensing, GPS, and Spatial Statistics.
The Geography Department provides Master of Arts (MA) and Master of Science (MS) degrees, along with a PhD program. These involve structured coursework and the creation of a research thesis or dissertation. Students collaborate with faculty advisors to refine their academic focus within our specialized research domains.
Our department delivers comprehensive degree programs and courses to equip students for varied professions in geospatial sciences. Engage with distinguished faculty conducting cutting-edge research across seven key disciplines: Earth System Science, Global Health Medical Geography, Spatial Networks and Dynamics, Geopolitics & International Economics, Disasters, Conservation, and Conflict, Sustainability & Environmental Shifts, and Geospatial Methods. Graduate research spans diverse, interdisciplinary subjects worldwide, examining issues like climate impacts on landscapes, deforestation disputes, extreme weather phenomena, waterway rehabilitation, healthcare availability, and spreading infectious diseases.

Qualification Requirements
Have your official transcripts sent to the University Office of Admissions. International students need to have them in their native language and English and will also need to provide separate certification that their degree has been awarded native language and English. Only proof of a bachelor's degree is required for admission. However, PhD applicants should send transcripts of their master's degree coursework even if it is in progress so that we can evaluate the coursework you have completed. Admissions will require your completed Master's transcripts within your first semester here at UF. Applicants with a bachelor's degree only, a minimum grade point average of B (3.0), calculated from all grades and credits after the semester where the applicant reached 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours is required.
