The Department offers specialized training across four core disciplines: Anthropological Linguistics, Archaeology, Biological Anthropology, and Cultural Anthropology. Key areas of expertise include Social Research Methods, Medical Anthropology, and the Archaeology of the Americas. Students can pursue focused studies in Forensic Anthropology through the C.A. Pound Human Identification Lab. Emphasizing anthropology's interdisciplinary approach, the Department collaborates extensively with other Liberal Arts and Sciences departments, such as the Center for African Studies (CAS), Center for Latin American Studies (LAS), School of Natural Resources and Environment (SNRE), African American Studies program, Center for European Studies (CES), and the Department of Linguistics. Numerous faculty members hold dual appointments with these programs. Additional partnerships exist with the Bureau of Economic and Business Research (BEBR), Florida Museum of Natural History (FLMNH), Emerging Pathogens Institute (EPI), Land Use and Environmental Change Institute (LUECI), Water Institute, and Genetics Institute.
