The Journalism program equips students with comprehensive skills across various journalistic disciplines, including reporting and storytelling. The curriculum covers essential competencies such as interviewing techniques, writing proficiency, multimedia production, broadcast journalism, and understanding public records, along with legal and ethical frameworks. Students also complete a specialized sports curriculum encompassing diverse multimedia and interdisciplinary subjects like sports journalism, media production, and strategic communication. Additionally, the program provides numerous hands-on learning experiences both within and beyond the College of Journalism and Communications.
The Sports and Media concentration within Journalism develops students' expertise in various aspects of sports journalism and communication. Participants acquire strategic abilities in reporting, writing, video production, audio storytelling, and social media engagement. The program fosters analytical thinking about contemporary challenges and developments in sports media while offering extensive practical training opportunities through internal and external media partnerships affiliated with the College of Journalism and Communications.

Qualification Requirements

At least three full years of your most recent secondary school transcript(s), including courses in progress (grades 9, 10 and 11 + senior schedule) in both the native language of instruction and a word for word certified English translation (if applicable).
All applicants must submit test scores from the SAT, ACT and/or CLT. UF will superscore (take the highest scores for each subsection) to create the highest possible total score. UF does not require or encourage applications to complete the essay portion of the ACT.
