The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences provides students passionate about biochemistry, molecular cell biology, biotechnology, genetics, structural biology, metabolism, or physical biochemistry with an Interdisciplinary Major in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Administered by the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, this program allows you to create a specialized curriculum in contemporary biochemistry and related fields that isn't offered elsewhere. While the degree is awarded by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the Department operates under the College of Medicine. Hands-on research is a core requirement, serving as the most effective way to master modern biochemical methods and lab skills. This program is ideal for students aiming for graduate studies in life sciences or planning careers in medicine, veterinary medicine, or dentistry. It's particularly well-suited for those with a keen interest in biochemical or biomedical research. Even students uncertain about pursuing advanced degrees but curious about research will find this program valuable. Be advised that this curriculum is equally, if not more, demanding than most other science majors.
