The Department of Applied Physiology and Kinesiology focuses on enhancing quality of life through the study of human movement. Its research, education, and service initiatives examine physiological and psychological responses to intense physical activities, while also exploring movement skills, performance enhancement, and health maintenance for individuals of all abilities—from everyday people to elite athletes and those with disabilities.
At the University of Florida, students can begin their journey in this department as freshmen. These experiences equip students for diverse career paths. The program blends core Exercise Physiology principles with customizable upper-level coursework, cultivating innovative leaders and skilled problem-solvers through its Bachelor of Science degree.
The curriculum emphasizes foundational science while incorporating specialized coursework in exercise biology. Students pursuing careers in fitness, wellness, or allied health can select classes centered on exercise techniques and movement anatomy, while those aiming for graduate studies in health sciences may choose advanced clinical physiology courses. A mandatory semester-long internship serves as the culminating experience, with all prerequisite courses required beforehand.
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
