The Bachelor of Music in Music Education program (B.Mus.Ed.) equips students for careers as both musicians and music educators in both private and public school settings. Developed in collaboration with the College of Education, the curriculum covers music history, literature, theory, performance, conducting, ensemble work, and music pedagogy. Students can specialize in either choral or instrumental music education. Over 50% of School of Music students are training to become music educators at elementary or secondary levels. Performance-focused undergraduates frequently enroll in the teacher preparation track, which meets Florida's K-12 certification requirements and is generally recognized by other states. The program holds accreditation from NASM and the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
The university will require the following minimum scores on the redesigned SAT: SAT Reading = 24, Writing and Language = 25 and Math = 24. On the ACT, a minimum score of 19 on the Reading section and 19 on the Math section.
