The Department of Sociology and Criminology provides UF's most extensive interdisciplinary degree program. Criminology students explore the intricate connections between legal systems, social dynamics, political factors, historical contexts, and psychological elements that shape laws, criminal behavior, and justice administration. The curriculum examines how laws emerge within societies, motivations behind legal violations, and societal responses to criminal acts. A multidisciplinary approach is crucial for criminology majors, who can supplement their studies with pertinent courses from other departments to fulfill foundational requirements (detailed in the Foundation Coursework section below).
Students must have completed a secondary and college or university credentials from non-U.S. institutions.
