Anthropology explores human cultures and analyzes patterns of social interaction across societies. This global discipline investigates every dimension of human existence - biological, social, and cultural - from ancient times to today. As a comprehensive field, it examines how humans adapt to both natural and social surroundings. The subject divides into four branches: cultural anthropology, archaeology, biological anthropology, and linguistics. Students can specialize in one area or combine anthropology with another discipline through interdisciplinary studies. The program offers two degree options: Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science, each with adaptable course requirements. Both degrees are awarded in general anthropology rather than specific subfields. This major delivers a well-rounded liberal arts foundation, equipping students for our intricate modern world. B.A. students examine diverse populations, their histories, and biological/cultural variations through an interdisciplinary lens blending social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities. Graduates often continue to advanced social science studies or apply anthropological knowledge to various professions. Given today's interconnected world and growing demand for cross-cultural competence, anthropology serves as an ideal liberal arts major for careers in business, education, public service, healthcare, and legal fields.
