Lamont's guitar program fosters comprehensive musical development within a challenging yet supportive setting.

Guitar students at Lamont learn from acclaimed performers Jonathan Leathwood and Laura Husbands. Professor Leathwood stands out as one of the rare guitarists who performs on both six-string and ten-string instruments, blending contemporary and classical pieces in his creative repertoire. He holds international certification in Alexander Technique instruction and serves as editor of Soundboard Scholar, the sole English-language peer-reviewed journal dedicated to guitar research. Professor Husbands has earned first-place honors in eleven international contests and has rapidly gained recognition as both performer and educator. She directs the Denver Guitar Festival and Competition, an annual event that attracts world-renowned artists to Lamont.
