The one-year performance certificate program offers intensive training in a chosen performance discipline. This curriculum blends individualized coaching, dynamic academic coursework, and hands-on performance opportunities to establish a comprehensive foundation in the student's primary instrument. Under the mentorship of Lamont School of Music's distinguished faculty, participants collaborate with fellow musicians while developing professional skills for careers in music.
This 12-credit program spans a single academic year and requires students to present juried performances (specific to their performance focus) along with at least one solo recital.
Viola students join a supportive community at Lamont that fosters artistic growth and achievement. They receive instruction from Colorado Symphony's principal violist, Professor Basil Vendryes, whose impressive career includes positions with the San Francisco Symphony, Rochester Philharmonic, and New York Philharmonic. An accomplished soloist, Professor Vendryes has performed internationally and recorded with major labels including Columbia, Phillips, Decca, RCA, and Nonesuch, as well as chamber music recordings for Ariel Music, Cadenza Music, Centaur, CRI Toccata, and Naxos.
