In the realm of music, collaborative piano stands out as one of the most expansive, demanding, and fulfilling specializations. Today's collaborative pianists engage in diverse roles across various fields: from sacred music settings to international opera productions, from academic instruction to seasonal concert programs, and from studio recordings to online promotion.
LSU's Collaborative Piano Program aims to equip students for these varied scenarios before graduation, all within the nurturing framework of campus life. Beyond honing technical skills, both the MM and DMA curricula emphasize cultivating analytical abilities applicable to every professional dimension.
Throughout this two-year program, students will regularly collaborate with LSU's exceptional orchestral and choral ensembles, learn from globally acclaimed faculty artists, and contribute to productions at the prestigious Turner-Fischer Center for Opera, among other opportunities.
LSU's Collaborative Piano faculty fosters intellectual curiosity in all aspects of student life - during lessons, performances, and particularly practice sessions. We challenge students to interrogate conventions, develop personal artistic identities, and creatively apply their knowledge. Our mission is to provide institutional support while empowering students to design their own educational and performance pathways.
