The performance certificate is a one-year intensive program focused on advanced study in a chosen performance discipline. This program blends individualized coaching, dynamic coursework, and hands-on training to establish a solid foundation in musical performance. Students collaborate with Lamont School of Music's distinguished faculty, participating in ensemble performances while developing skills for careers in music.
This 12-credit certificate can be earned within a single academic year. Participants must fulfill juried performance requirements (specific to their instrument) and present at least one solo recital.
Organ students learn from Joseph Galema, a Lamont faculty member since 2008. He holds the position of principal organist at Colorado Springs' First United Methodist Church, a prominent and vibrant congregation. At Lamont, he provides private instruction for organ students while teaching courses in organ literature, improvisation techniques, and collaborative performance.
