Educating future nurse scholars to enhance healthcare via research, teaching, and leadership
Strengthen the evidence-based framework of nursing and healthcare systems by pursuing a Nursing PhD at the Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing. With mentorship from our faculty, students develop research programs tackling social, cultural, political, and ethical challenges in nursing scholarship. Loyola Nursing's intimate PhD program provides tailored education and fosters strong faculty-student mentoring relationships. This doctoral program welcomes both bachelor's and master's-level nursing professionals.
The PhD in Nursing aims to cultivate scholars who advance human health through knowledge creation and dissemination.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
Upon graduation, students will possess the expertise to:
Establish a foundational research program that advances nursing and healthcare understanding.
Integrate social, cultural, political, economic, and ethical dimensions into nursing scholarship and clinical practice.
Engage with global academic communities to promote the Jesuit tradition of knowledge creation and sharing for humanity's benefit.
Take on leadership positions in nursing research, education, clinical practice, policy formation, and/or administration to improve population health outcomes.
