The Bachelor of Music in Performance offers specialized training in Western classical music performance. Students gain intensive practical experience in their chosen discipline under the guidance of accomplished artist-educators committed to shaping successful musical careers. This competitive program combines conservatory-level instruction with the rich academic environment of a liberal arts university.
Vocal performance students at Lamont learn from renowned instructors including Catherine Kasch, Matthew Plenk, Cody Laun, and Heidi Melton, whose collective expertise spans more than fifty years in both performance and pedagogy. Sahar Nouri serves as Music Director for Lamont Opera Theatre. Additionally, students refine their foreign language diction with Beth Nielsen, a versatile artist proficient in opera, art song, chamber music, and musical theater.
Lamont frequently hosts celebrated visiting artists for masterclasses and performances. Recent distinguished guests have featured Christine Brewer, Michelle DeYoung, Ailyn Prez, Greg Carpenter, and Stefano de Peppo.
