The Bachelor of Music in Performance offers specialized training in Western classical music performance. Students gain intensive practical experience in their chosen discipline under the guidance of accomplished artist-teachers committed to shaping successful musical careers. This competitive program combines conservatory-quality instruction with a dynamic liberal arts university environment.
Piano performance majors work with either Stephanie Cheng or Steven Mayer, both acclaimed artist-teachers with global recognition as performers and educators. Those focusing on piano pedagogy learn from Emily Book McGree, an esteemed pianist, educator, and teacher training specialist.
Our program cultivates an active musical community through participation in duos, chamber ensembles, and larger groups. Students benefit from cutting-edge facilities at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts, while Lamont proudly maintains its status as an All-Steinway School, featuring 85 premium Steinway acoustic pianos.
