Our BA program immerses you in analyzing both classic and modern literature while building expertise in analytical and imaginative writing.

You'll sharpen analytical abilities by examining how written works reflect wider societal, economic, cultural and political contexts. Beyond reading texts, you'll create original works through poetry, essays, fiction and research-based assignments. Specialize in literary analysis, creative writing or English education through our focused tracks.

Beyond coursework, get practical experience by contributing to Foothills, our student-run literary magazine, or interning with our publishing partner Tethered by Letters to refine editorial skills. Consider expanding your horizons through international study opportunities.

The English BA cultivates the analytical, interpretive and compositional skills vital for advanced study and diverse professions. Writing-intensive careers in media, advertising, legal fields, social sectors and tech continue growing. We provide targeted training in publishing, teaching and business writing to prepare you for these evolving fields.

This specialization caters to students seeking a conventional path in English literary analysis, academic research and theoretical study. Those pursuing comprehensive disciplinary knowledge or planning graduate/professional education will find this concentration ideal.
