Our BA program immerses you in both classic and modern literature while cultivating your analytical and creative writing abilities.

You'll refine your analytical skills by examining texts within their social, economic, cultural, and political contexts. Beyond reading, you'll create original works through poetry, essays, fiction, and research projects. Choose from specializations in literary studies, creative writing, or English education.

Beyond academics, gain practical experience by contributing to Foothills, our student-run literary magazine, or interning with our publishing partner Tethered by Letters. Consider expanding your horizons through study abroad opportunities.

An English BA sharpens the critical analysis and communication skills vital for graduate programs and diverse professions. Writing-intensive careers in publishing, digital media, legal fields, nonprofits, and tech continue to grow. We provide focused tracks in publishing, education, and professional writing to build relevant expertise.

This specialization prepares future secondary school English teachers. The curriculum covers everything from medieval British works to contemporary American literature, complemented by courses in linguistics and composition.
