Our BA program immerses you in both classic and modern literature while cultivating essential writing abilities.

You'll refine analytical skills by examining how written works reflect societal, economic, cultural and political contexts. Beyond reading, you'll create original content through poetry, essays, fiction and research-based work. Choose from specializations in literary analysis, creative writing or English education.

Beyond academics, gain practical experience by contributing to Foothills, our student-run literary publication. Alternatively, develop professional editing skills through our partnership with Tethered by Letters. These opportunities extend globally through our study abroad options.

This specialization caters to aspiring poets, novelists, nonfiction writers and translators seeking mentorship from published authors. Unlike similar programs, ours places greater emphasis on literary theory and criticism. It's ideal preparation for graduate studies in English at the MFA or PhD level.
