Human Services (HS) students cultivate the expertise needed to transform lives across all age groups and family structures. By selecting from three specialized tracks, learners can ready themselves for careers in diverse environments like nonprofits, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, community initiatives, and legal advocacy groups, where they can drive meaningful change in areas including youth empowerment, disability services, racial equity, juvenile justice, addiction recovery, and domestic violence prevention.
Program Learning Outcomes Graduates of the Human Services - Family and Community Services Concentration will demonstrate the ability to: 1. Apply both theoretical frameworks and hands-on skills to support individuals and families across community environments. 2. Engage with or implement family-focused research. 3. Explain various prevention strategies, intervention methods, and policy solutions within human services. 4. Develop and implement approaches for collaborating with families and decision-makers to address multifaceted social challenges in different settings. 5. Synthesize academic theory, empirical research, and proven methodologies within administrative and policy frameworks.
